Linux GSM/WiFi Smart Phones Shipping from E28
Oct 26th, 2007, 9:23pm

2 Models of GSM SmartPhones from e28 have been approved by the FCC, and are now available.

The R2821 and E2831 both have Quad Band GSM, GRPS, and 802.11b/g WiFi on board, and include a SIP VoIP application.

They also include all the other expected basics such as media players, mega pixel cameras, bluetooth, and JavaMIDP environments.

Notably absent is EDGE, 3G capability, and a second camera.

These phones run Linux using an OS similar to that seen on Motorola Phones such as the A780, e680i, and the popular A1200.  It is not known if apps written for the Motorola devices will run on the phones from e28.

Want to buy one?  Either travel to China, or Check eBay.  Search for   [ Linux GSM WiFi]    and check the  "Search title and description" box.  Of Course, neither I nor linuxslate.com can vouch for any given eBay seller.

If you have any information on these phones, PLEASE register and post here.
