Stylistic LT-P600 on Xubuntu Jaunty??

Hello! Newbie here!
While i had my dream laptop (and first tablet!) a special ordered custom Lenovo X61T was having a new system board warranty replacement (after a water spill!) I borrowed my coworkers Fujitsu Stylstic LT-P600.
The thing ran like a bear with Windows 2000 running on it (but the stylus did work!). Installed my usb CD rom drive, popped in a copy of Xubuntu Jaunty Jackalope and off i went, selected the option for 'need help loading from CD on boot' option and had no other problems getting through basic installation.
Some of the buttons on the side of the screen work - i'd like to fix that but thats later.
For now i need help getting the fpit driver to work!
I am reading tons of sites that all suggest different options for xorg config for the serial and such, and even adding some lines to rc.local but I can't seem to get it to load no matter what TTYS# i use.
Can someone offer some guidance on what to do? I'm at my wits end with this dinosaur.

Have you found the serial device for the touchscreen?
try:
cat /dev/ttySx
with different values of x (usually 0 - 4)
Moving the pen around the screen should produce lots of garbage when you move the pen around the screen.
Do this _Without_ the driver installed.
This will at least be a start. It will tell you what to put in xorg.conf for the serial port setting.
Also, check the permissions of each serial device.
